Proposed Ambulance Service
Goal: Develop an ambulance services that is organized, staffed and managed to maximize service, minimize response time and ultimately reduce costs.
System Design:
- Service managed through City of Brillion.
- Ambulances staffed by EMT-Basic & Intermediate level personnel.
- Ambulance staff will be on-call.
- Ambulance staff will be dispatched through 911 system.
- Ambulance staff will be paid a per hour rate for their on-call time, plus a flat rate per ambulance run (compensation rates to be determined).
- Ambulance staff will operate on a schedule for their on-call times.
- Gaps in the schedule will be filled with on-site (part-time) (ex. $7.50/per hour) personnel if necessary, (compensation rates to be determined).
- Ambulances and equipment will be owned by the City of Brillion.
- Ambulance coverage area will be determined by who is participates in the system.
- First Responder groups are recommended for the municipalities within the service district.
- Area businesses will be asked to support the ambulance service by allowing First Responders and Ambulance personnel (EMT's) to leave work to respond to emergencies (similar to the way the volunteer Fire Department operates). It is also desirable that these employees remain "on the clock" at their respective employers, and continue to receive their regular rate of pay while responding to emergencies.
